I am a sucker for a good liquid lipstick.  You don’t have to worry about them melting in your purse, and right now they are so popular that you can find just about every color imaginable.  I started my venture into the liquid lipstick world with the Stila Stay All Day line, and they quickly got me hooked.

Kat Von D 1Liquid lipsticks tend to last longer then traditional lipsticks, and don’t smudge, bleed, or feather as easily as regular lipstick.  On the flip side, they can be drying, and give your lips that dry puckered look that isn’t very appealing.  Finding the perfect liquid lip can be a challenge, so I am putting some of the most popular brands to the test.  Today I am reviewing the liquid lipstick by Kat Von D in the shade “Mother”.  Kat Von D is known for their longevity, and she has some beautiful colors available.  I personally love Mother, its a pinky mauve that is kind of a “my lips but better” color, and I’ve heard it is a great dupe for Kylie Jenner’s lip color Posie K so I was anxious to try it out.  Now it’s time to find out how it stood up to the test!

Packaging: the packing is pretty to look at, exactly what you would expect from Kat Von D, girly with an edge, and slimmer than most other liquid lipstick tubes.  My favorite part was the doe foot applicator though.  I used to think all doe foot applicators were the same, until I tried this one.  It is a lot stiffer than the average, and it makes a huge difference in application.  The applicator makes putting this lipstick on a breeze (a lot easier then the Stila lipsticks) and getting a nice clean line without using a liner pretty easy.  I am by no means an expert when it comes to lipstick application, but this made me feel a lot more comfortable then usual.

Application: it goes on really smooth, the formula is nice, and it dries down in a few minutes to the point that it still feels ever so slightly tacky, but didn’t transfer at all.

Wear:  I am going to give this formula about a 7 out of 10 for wear.  You can see it was there at the end of the day, but it started wearing off around the 2 hour mark to the point it no longer looked nice and wasn’t something I would want to be wearing out in public.  After the initial wear, it didn’t seem to change much between 4 and 8 hours.

Overall feelings:  If you are someone who doesn’t mind reapplying lipstick every couple of hours, then this lipstick might be for you!  It’s nice to apply and offers a good range of colors, but I don’t think it would be the best choice if you are someone who likes to apply your lipstick in the morning and not have to deal with it the rest of the day.  It wears off, and not in the pretty and natural way.  I might repurchase if they had a specific color I really wanted, but overall I think I will stick to Anastasia or Stila (reviews of those coming soon!).
